"Lan Xiang Ru Gu," starring Liu Xueyi and Tan Songyun (譚松韻), began airing and streaming on September 11. On the video streaming service Tencent Video (騰訊視頻), it recorded a hit index comparable to past mega-hits, setting a new record for dramas in 2026. Its effective viewership has already exceeded 1.1 billion.

Along with the drama's success, on China's SNS platform Weibo (微博), Liu Xueyi's follower count increased by approximately 110,000 by the end of September, with an additional increase of about 70,000 in the most recent 7 days. On TikTok's Chinese domestic version Douyin (抖音), his follower count also increased by approximately 110,000, indicating a rapid surge in popularity.

Liu Xueyi
In 2024, Liu Xueyi went independent from the agency he had belonged to for about 10 years. Earlier this year, it was revealed that he would be cast in the historical epic drama "Jiangshan Datong" with actress Yang Mi (楊冪), and now "Lan Xiang Ru Gu" has become a massive hit. Although he gained popularity with the 2022 drama "Youthful Song ~Beginning of the Legend~," there was also talk of his unfortunate situation while with his previous agency, where he was overshadowed by other star actors, and now attention is focused on his smooth career development after going independent.

In September, his latest drama "China 1927" began filming. It is a serious drama depicting the history surrounding the Nanchang Uprising against the backdrop of the 1927 revolutionary history, and its genre is significantly different from previous works Liu Xueyi has appeared in. As his popularity continues to rise, expectations are high as to whether this work will showcase a new side of him as an actor. (Mathilda)
