According to China State Railway Group Co., Ltd., the Xiong'an-Shangqiu section of the Beijing-Hong Kong High-speed Railway (Beijing-Hong Kong), the Xi'an-Ankang section of the Xi'an-Chongqing High-speed Railway (Xi'an-Chongqing), the Yichang-Xingshan High-speed Railway, and the Harbin-Yichun High-speed Railway will simultaneously open and begin operations on the 28th. Workers' Daily reported.
These four lines extend in all directions, covering the four major regions of North China, Northeast China, Northwest China, and Central China. As "steel arteries" operating at various speed categories, such as 350 kilometers per hour and 250 kilometers per hour, they have broken down regional temporal and spatial barriers. With the opening of these lines, many regions have entered the high-speed rail era.
The simultaneous opening of the four high-speed rail lines not only extends the railway network's length but also reconfigures the regional geographical and spatial structure. High-speed rail now connects cities and county areas, as well as hubs and places along the lines extending from them, at a faster speed, from the North China Plain to the northernmost part of the country, and from the depths of the Qinling Mountains to the mountainous areas of western Hubei Province. This promotes the transition of regional development from 'points and axes' development to 'network-based' regional development, and strongly supports coordinated regional development and Chinese-style modernization in terms of transportation.
