A Chinese woman who went missing while mountaineering in Yakushima, Kagoshima Prefecture, has been confirmed to have been safely found. Several Chinese media outlets, including Red Star News, reported this.

According to reports, the person who went missing was a 29-year-old Chinese national. The woman entered the mountain from Yakushima's Hanayama Trail on the morning of the 30th, and sent a message to an acquaintance around 3:00 PM saying, "I've already climbed halfway."

Around 6:40 PM on the same day, she appeared to be descending the mountain, but around 7:30 PM, she sent a message saying, "I'm lost," and subsequently lost contact. The next day, on the 31st, an acquaintance searched the vicinity but couldn't find her, so they reported it to the local police.

The woman attended a university in Japan and remained in Japan to work after graduation. The woman's father urgently applied for a visa to Japan to search for his daughter. An official from the Chinese Consulate-General in Fukuoka commented on September 1st, "We are in contact with the woman's family and are handling this matter."

On Chinese social media, personal information such as the woman's name, height, weight, and photos were disseminated, and calls for information were made.

Around 4:00 PM on the same day, the woman's mother revealed to Chinese media, "I just received news that my daughter has been found." According to the mother, the woman telephoned the acquaintance who reported her missing to the police to express her gratitude, and informed them that she was safe, and although she didn't know if her injuries were serious, she was injured.

The woman is believed to have descended the mountain on her own, but the detailed circumstances have not been revealed.

In response, on Chinese social media, in addition to voices expressing joy at the woman's safety, there were calls for detailed information such as when and where she was found, warnings that "mountaineering in Yakushima is highly difficult and should not be attempted lightly," and suggestions that, now that she has been safely found, her personal information should not be further disseminated.
