Chinese actress Zhao Lusi (趙露思) has revealed her acquisition of adaptation rights for 9 works, attracting attention for her move to expand her activities into drama planning and production. On the 17th, Zhao Lusi's agency announced on its official Weibo social media account that it had simultaneously acquired the rights to nine works, with a view to film and television adaptation. These cover a wide range of genres, including historical dramas, urban thrillers, romance, and time-travel stories. Three of the nine works were selected from over 1,000 submissions received in an open call for original scripts that began in July. In addition, the collection includes four works based on popular novels that have already been greenlit for adaptation, and co-production projects with other companies. Among these, Zhao Lusi herself is scheduled to appear in the historical dramas "Feng Deng Ji" and "Zhi Suo Shi." The first project, "Sonder - I'm Not an NPC," is scheduled to begin filming on August 22nd, with four new actors cast in leading roles, and Zhao Lusi participating as a producer. This marks a significant move as Zhao Lusi approaches her 10th debut anniversary, but among young popular actresses in the Chinese entertainment industry, it is an unusual case for one to actively secure adaptation rights herself. This initiative is expected to increase her influence not only as an actress but also in planning and production. Furthermore, it is also believed to be aimed at preventing a recurrence of the so-called "dual script" controversy that emerged during the filming of her starring drama "The Lover" in 2024, where cast members allegedly received scripts with different content.
