An 8-year-old boy sustained serious injuries, fracturing both legs, after jumping from a high place indoors at a residence in Huizhou City, Guangdong Province, China. Chinese media such as Cankao Xiaoxi (Reference News) reported on the 11th. Indoor security camera footage showed the boy climbing over a fence into a space beside the stairs and jumping down towards the floor. According to reports, the height was about 2.6 meters. When a family member nearby asked, "Where did you jump from!?", a young girl was also seen pointing to the space beside the stairs and informing them, "I jumped from here." The boy, who was examined at the hospital, was found to have fractured both legs. The boy, who reportedly loved Ultraman, when asked by his family, "Can Ultraman fly?", replied "Yes, he can fly," but when asked "Can you fly?", he replied "No, I can't" in a dejected manner. Chinese netizens' comments included "Wow, that's too scary," "Because the parents weren't watching properly," "Naughty child," "There were quite a few kids like this decades ago," and "A child raised without physical discipline." Furthermore, concerns such as "Ultraman will be held responsible," "Could Ultraman become a prohibited viewing work?", and "I hope parents don't start saying 'ban Ultraman'" were raised, and arguments like "Such videos (like Ultraman) need censorship" and "That's why it's better not to show Ultraman to children. It's truly harmful" were also scattered. On the other hand, counterarguments like "This is this child's problem. Which other child has watched Ultraman and jumped from somewhere in their house? I also watched Ultraman when I was a child, but I never jumped," "It's not Ultraman's fault, it's a matter of IQ," and "It's like saying the road is bad when you can't walk straight yourself" were received and gained much sympathy.
