The number of orders for "RACCO," launched by China's BYD (比亚迪) in the Japanese market, exceeded 1,000 units in 2 weeks since its launch.
The vehicle is an electric mini-vehicle (mini EV) released on July 28, and it offers three grades: "200," "300 Plus," and "300 Premium." The manufacturer's suggested retail price ranges from 2,145,000 to 2,497,000 yen, and it also became a hot topic that the "200" model could be purchased for under 2,000,000 yen if the national subsidy of 150,000 yen was applied. The driving range on a single charge is 210 kilometers for the "200" model and 320 kilometers for the "300 Plus" and "300 Premium" models.
On the 10th of this month, BYD JAPAN reported on X (formerly Twitter) that the cumulative number of orders for RACCO had surpassed 1,000 units. This information was also introduced on the Chinese SNS Weibo, where an automotive blogger commented, "RACCO has shown excellent results in Japan, a major automotive industry country. 1,000 orders in two weeks is not due to temporary hype, but rather a manifestation of overseas users spontaneously accepting China's automobile manufacturing technology."
The same blogger also commented, "It has deeply delved into the mini-vehicle segment, which Japanese manufacturers have long protected, not simply exporting products, but profoundly adapting to local policies, commuting scenarios, and lifestyle needs, and solving issues such as battery performance, comfort, and flexible driving one by one." The blogger also argued, "RACCO's strong sales are a microcosm demonstrating the mature globalization strategy of China's new energy vehicle manufacturers." (Translation/Editing: Noya)
