On August 10, 2026, Taiwanese media United Daily News reported that "From AQUA Natural Water Jelly" from JR East Cross Station's beverage brand "acure made" has become available for purchase at convenience stores in Taiwan and is attracting attention on social media.
The article stated, "Many people enjoy looking for drinks that can only be bought from local vending machines when visiting Japan. One such drink is 'From AQUA Natural Water Jelly', which turns into a jelly when shaken. Recently, a netizen found the product on sale at a 7-Eleven in Taiwan and posted about it on social media. Although the price of 99 New Taiwan Dollars (approximately 500 yen) is a bit high, not only have many people purchased it, but it has also sparked discussion online."
When a netizen posted an image of the natural water jelly displayed at a 7-Eleven store on SNS Threads and introduced the drink's feature of 'turning into jelly when shaken' and its ramune flavor, many positive comments were received from other netizens, such as, 'I always buy it when I find it in a Japanese subway vending machine,' 'The strong ramune flavor is good,' 'It's interesting that it turns into jelly when shaken,' and 'I can drink it without going all the way to Japan, so I saved on airfare.'
On the other hand, comments were also seen pointing out that the change to a jelly-like texture is due to the inclusion of multiple thickening agents, and comments noting that its texture is similar to 'thickening agents' used in medical and care settings to prevent aspiration and dysphagia in the elderly.
The article reported, 'Regarding the price of 99 New Taiwan Dollars, opinions are divided online. While some people find it expensive, it seems that not a few people are willing to pay this price for the enjoyment of satisfying their curiosity.' (Translation and editing/Kuniyuki Hara)
