On July 31, the No. 2 elevator with a vertical height of 288 meters opened in the Nizhuhe Grand Canyon, Nizhuhe Village, Xuanwei City, Yunnan Province. Installed on a cliff and ascending/descending at a speed of 5 meters per second, this is the second such elevator. By using it in conjunction with a cable car, commute time has been reduced from 3 hours to 30 minutes. This elevator operates daily, carrying the dreams of mountainous children eager to learn. In this area, in 2022, the Nizhuhe Grand Canyon No. 1 elevator and a cable car were completed and put into operation. Villagers and commuting students can use them for free, and they became a big topic on the Chinese internet as the 'No. 1 Aerial School Bus'. With the completion and availability of the second elevator, a total of 1,200 people can now be transported per hour. Like the first one, the second elevator also allows villagers from Nizhuhe Village and Guanzhai Village, as well as enrolled students, to use it for free and with priority. Furthermore, a dedicated gate for commuting students has been installed, making travel even more convenient for residents in mountainous areas, and resolving the 'last mile' problem for rural public services.
