On the 1st, a post on China's SNS Xiaohongshu (RED) about receiving a gift from an unknown Japanese girl in Okinawa garnered a great response.
According to the poster, on the evening of her first day arriving in Okinawa on a solo trip, she went out for a walk and on her way back to the hotel, stopped at a convenience store to buy a drink and pudding. However, during payment, the internet connection suddenly cut, rendering various smartphone payment methods unusable. As she had only gone for a walk, she hadn't brought her credit card or anything else.
When the poster gave up on the purchase and apologized to the customer waiting behind her, saying, "(Sorry for making you wait) I'm sorry," the Japanese woman in line came forward and paid for her. Then, with a smile, she told her in English, "This is an Okinawa gift for you."
After the payment, the poster suggested exchanging contact information to thank the woman later. The woman then said, "We girls should support each other, right?" The poster reportedly responded, "You made my day."
The poster wrote, "Her sparkling eyes and orange blush, her radiant smile, warmly enveloped my entire day. I am sure this will be the most memorable event of this trip. My first day in Okinawa was truly happy," and posted photos of the Calpis and Jersey milk pudding she had received.
Chinese internet users commented with remarks such as: "How beautiful (tears)," "It made me cry," "This is why I use SNS. I was so touched (tears)," "Girls are so kind, aren't they?" "Girls' love is passed on from one to the next," "That's great! Especially when you have a heartwarming experience on your first day in an unfamiliar place, the evaluation of that place and the entire trip goes up significantly," and "It's not just girls. There are still many people in this world who share warmth with strangers."
In addition, anecdotes were shared, such as: "Last month, when I went to Okinawa, the taxi driver gave me a souvenir on the way back (crying)," "(attaching a photo of a poodle made from balloons) When I took a taxi in Okinawa, the old driver made it for me while we were waiting at a traffic light. I was really happy (crying)," and "When I was using a gacha machine in Shibuya, a Japanese girl suddenly gave me 'One Piece' (anime) merchandise." (Translation/Editing: Kitada)
