Chinese media outlet IT Home recently published an article about China's major electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, BYD, stating that it "achieved cumulative sales of 100,000 units approximately 3 years after entering the UK passenger car market."
According to reports from overseas media CARSCOOPS, BYD's sales in the UK recently reached 100,000 units. This is a remarkable achievement in just over 3 years since sales began in March 2023, and BYD points out that it took other brands "decades" to achieve this.
BYD's growth is phenomenal. Initially, it only had the mid-size SUV "ATTO 3" in its lineup, but now it has expanded to 10 models. Furthermore, the number of dealerships also surged from 5 to 143.
In the first half of this year (January-June) alone, 37,995 units were sold, accounting for over one-third of the total sales of 100,000 units in just 6 months. According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), June sales increased by 36.2% to 6,242 units, reaching a market share of 2.93%.
Bono Ge, BYD's UK Country Manager, stated, "We sincerely thank the 100,000 owners who have trusted us and the 100,000 families who have integrated BYD into their lives." BYD also said it looks forward to introducing more models to the UK, including the mid-size pickup truck "Shark," the family adventure SUV "Ti 7," and models from its premium brand DENZA, such as the Z and Z9 GT.
