China's game industry market size is rapidly expanding.
Zhang Yijun, First Vice Chairman of the China Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association and Director of the Game Publishing Activities Committee under the association, announced the "January-June 2026 China Game Industry Report" on July 30 in Shanghai.
Zhang stated, "In the first half of this year (January-June), China's game industry scale expanded significantly, with client-based games and games expanded overseas performing particularly well. Furthermore, artificial intelligence (AI) technology has fully permeated the industrial chain, restructuring development processes and gameplay experiences after achieving cost reduction and efficiency improvement."
According to the report, the actual sales revenue of China's domestic game market in the first half of the year reached 188.45 billion yuan (approximately 4.56 trillion yen), a 12.17% increase year-on-year, and the number of Chinese game users reached 684 million as of June, a 0.82% increase year-on-year.
In the first half of the year, the actual sales revenue of self-developed games in the domestic market was 163.356 billion yuan (approximately 3.95 trillion yen), a 16.31% increase, maintaining good growth momentum. Furthermore, the actual sales revenue of self-developed games in the overseas market reached 12.372 billion dollars (approximately 2.02 trillion yen), a 30.22% increase. (Provided by/CGTN Japanese)
