According to CRRC, the world's largest rolling stock manufacturer, which announced on June 8, China's high-end rail transit equipment will be deployed for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. 115 new light rail vehicles will be operated in Mexico's three host cities, and the average daily passenger volume is expected to exceed 1.25 million.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 will kick off on June 11. The light rail developed by CRRC will be operated in the three cities of Mexico City, Monterrey, and Guadalajara. After operation begins, football fans from all over the world will be able to ride the Chinese-made light rail and smoothly access the main stadium for the World Cup opening ceremony and other stadiums.

The light rail vehicles provided by CRRC for the direct dedicated line to Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, the main stadium for the opening ceremony, fully consider the high-altitude environment and the characteristics of the rainy season, and are equipped with regenerative brakes and low-noise ventilation systems, while also strengthening barrier-free facilities, providing a more comfortable travel experience while achieving energy saving and noise reduction.

Monterrey Light Rail Line 1 provides direct access to Estadio Monterrey, the match venue. The vehicles have completed upgrades in terms of control systems, energy efficiency, and operational efficiency, bringing a more efficient, environmentally friendly, and smart travel experience to citizens and football fans.

Furthermore, Guadalajara Light Rail Line 4 has integrated the densely populated southern areas into the rail transit network.
