It has been revealed that Dong Wei (Deng Wei) will star in the Chinese fantasy historical drama "Bai Yao Pu," whose casting has been attracting attention, and that filming is scheduled to begin.

"Bai Yao Pu," produced by writer and film director Guo Jingming (Guo Jingming), is based on a popular Chinese novel, and an animated version has also been developed since 2020, making it popular among a wide range of audiences. In March this year, Director Guo Jingming posted a picture on China's social media platform Weibo (Weibo) of a person believed to be Dong Wei. This was taken as a de facto announcement, and interest rapidly surged. Furthermore, it was recently reported that in addition to Dong Wei's casting as the lead, filming is scheduled to begin in July.

The original novel of "Bai Yao Pu" is a story about Tao Yao, a spirit doctor from Taodu who manages the "Bai Yao Pu," venturing into the human world after losing a book and pursuing its whereabouts. Dong Wei is expected to play Si Kuanglan, who appears in the latter half of the original work, and is depicted as a character with a cool and noble aura. Many voices also suggest that Dong Wei's visuals match the original character's image. In the original work, he is depicted as Tao Yao's love interest, and there are high expectations for his portrayal in the drama.

Regarding co-stars, names such as Zhao Lusi (Zhao Lusi), Liu Xiening (Liu Xiening), Lu Yuxiao (Lu Yuxiao), and Kong Xue'er (Kong Xue'er) have been reported so far, but recently, the name of Chen Yao (Chen Yao), known for works like "Chang'an Twenty-Four Schemes," has emerged, and interest is also gathering for her.
