The number of active scientific researchers per 1 million people in Beijing reached 52,000, surpassing Boston, USA, and rising to the world's top.
The HICOOL Global Entrepreneur Summit and Entrepreneurship Competition, an international startup support project in Beijing hosted by the Beijing Overseas Talent Association (BOTA), held a press conference in Beijing on May 25. According to Deputy Director Liu Guangyi of the Beijing Municipal Human Resources Bureau, who revealed this at the conference, the total human resources in Beijing has now exceeded 8 million people, with talent in key industrial sectors reaching 5.47 million people. Furthermore, the number of active scientific researchers per 1 million people reached 52,000, surpassing Boston, USA, and rising to the world's top.
Beijing's greatest strengths lie in science and technology and talent, boasting 92 universities, over 1,000 scientific research institutions, 145 national key laboratories, 116 unicorn companies, and over 30,000 high-tech enterprises. The number of highly cited scientists reached 400, accounting for 28% of the national total, and in the "Nature Index Science Cities" published by Springer Nature, Beijing has maintained its top position for 9 consecutive years.
