"Battle of Penghu" depicts a crucial battle for national unification that actually occurred in the 22nd year of Kangxi (1683) during the Qing Dynasty. In 1681, Taiwan's powerful officials, Feng Xifan and Liu Guoxuan, assassinated Zheng Kezang, the regent, and enthroned the 12-year-old Zheng Keshuang as the new king. This accelerated the "division of land and territory". In response to prolonged attacks on the southeastern coastal region, Emperor Kangxi repeatedly dispatched envoys to urge surrender and allegiance, but failed. In '83, Shi Lang, Admiral of the Fujian Fleet, led troops and achieved a great victory over the Taiwanese navy in Penghu in the Taiwan Strait. He used military force to achieve the peaceful unification of Taiwan, putting an end to decades of division.

A full-scale port of 28,000 square meters was constructed in Quanzhou, and a 30,000-square-meter filming base was built in Wuxi. 50 ancient warships of 5 types, including 12 main battleships with a total length of 40 meters, weighing over 100 tons, and equipped with more than 30 cannons, were reproduced in full scale.

Under the full guidance of Professor Chen Yue, a naval history expert, the design of the warships, weaponry, and tactical movements were faithfully reproduced based on historical facts.
