Many Chinese smartphone brands such as Huawei (华为), Xiaomi (小米), and Honor (荣耀) simultaneously raised their product prices on September 1st, with price increases ranging from 200 to 1000 yuan (4,760 to 23,800 yen).
Among them, for Huawei, all Mate 80 series models saw a uniform price increase of 800 yuan (approximately 19,000 yen), all Mate 80 Pro series models increased by 1000 yuan, and the "Enjoy" (畅享) 90 Pro Max by 200 yuan.
Xiaomi also made price adjustments on the same day, including the 17 series, REDMI K90 series, and Turbo 5 Max models.
Regarding Honor, two models of the Power2 were raised by 500 yuan (approximately 11,900 yen) and 600 yuan (approximately 14,300 yen) respectively, with their new selling prices becoming 3199 yuan (approximately 76,200 yen) and 3599 yuan (approximately 85,700 yen) respectively. In addition, each model of Magic8 saw price increases of 300 to 500 yuan (approximately 7,140 to 11,900 yen), with their selling prices after the increase ranging from 4799 to 5999 yuan (approximately 114,000 to 143,000 yen).
Regarding this price increase, Huawei's customer service responded that they adjusted the selling prices because product costs increased due to market price adjustments of important materials. Xiaomi's customer service clarified that due to the continuous increase in the procurement costs of key components, they appropriately adjusted the retail prices of related products. Honor responded that product prices and campaigns need to be adjusted according to market demand, and after a comprehensive evaluation, they appropriately adjusted the prices of related products.
Since the beginning of the year, Chinese smartphone manufacturers have already made price adjustments several times. In March this year, OPPO became the first brand to officially announce a price increase, including its A series, K series, and OnePlus (provided by/CGTN Japanese).
