Chinese tourists visiting Mexico to watch the FIFA World Cup North America Tournament were robbed.
According to the Chinese Embassy in Mexico, late at night on the 10th local time, a robbery occurred on a street near Mexico City International Airport, where Chinese nationals visiting the country to watch the World Cup were attacked by a robber with a handgun.
After the embassy learned of the incident, it conveyed its concerns to relevant Mexican authorities and urged them to fully pursue the investigation and take measures to protect the lives, property, and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens residing in Mexico. Furthermore, the detailed circumstances of the incident have not been disclosed.
The embassy stated that 'the security situation in Mexico is severe' and called on Chinese citizens staying in the country to enhance their crime prevention awareness when going out at night and not to flaunt valuables, not to carry large amounts of cash or precious metals, and to properly manage identification documents such as passports and not to store them with cash or valuables.
